Pamira Yanar

Pamira is a first-year graduate student in the Wuest Lab from Turkey. She received her BS in Biochemistry with a double major in Gender Studies from the University of Richmond. At Richmond, she began research in the Biology Department with Dr. Shannon Jones, where she investigated the toxicological effects of e-cigarette juice on THP-1 macrophages. As her interest in chemistry grew, she later joined Dr. Christopher Shugrue’s lab in the Chemistry Department. In the Shugrue Lab, she worked on developing oxazole-based and electron-rich aniline-based cleavable linkers for peptide library screening applications. Currently, in the Wuest Lab, she has begun working on the synthesis and analogs of 4-hydroxy-2-pyridone natural products. Outside of the lab, she enjoys photography, traveling, and swimming.
