Haley Gartrell

Haley was born and raised in Florida and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the
University of South Florida in 2024. While at USF, Haley worked under Dr. James Leahy on the
synthesis of novel cannabinoids, as well as synthesizing a novel inhibitor of aminolaevulinic acid
synthase. Haley came to Emory University to pursue her PhD in organic chemistry and joined the
Wuest Lab in the fall of 2024. Besides chemistry, Haley enjoys playing the guitar, baking, and
hanging out with her cat Nova.
